Sink Gauge Explained

Sink Gauge refers to how thick the steel in the sink is. The lower the gauge, the thicker the steel. All of our sinks start with 16 gauge stainless steel. By the end of the stamping process, the bowl / basin becomes closer to an 18 gauge. Many companies will market the same sink as strictly a 16 gauge, but the most honest way to market it is to state that it is a 16/18 gauge product. It is impossible to stamp a straight 16 gauge unless it is a one piece construction, which is more of a hand crafted product. All of the brand name sink companies sell the same gauge sink that we do. Our 16 gauge sinks are 25% thicker than sinks that are marketed at 18 gauge and 50% thicker than sinks that are marketed at 20 gauge.
